I cannot believe it has been three years already! When I started this adventure I didn’t know what to expect. Where would this lead me? I remember I was nervous and excited at the same time. When I pressed that button on WordPress and published that first post, it changed my life. It made me even more aware of how precious traveling is and how lucky I am for having had the opportunity to experience different cultures every few years.

I can honestly say that it was never about the number of viewers or likes, or the money I could make with it. It was always about me. A way of expressing myself in a creative way, something I had always wanted to do.

For years, I had thought about writing and sharing my views of this wonderful and often crazy world we live in. I have been traveling and have lived in different countries and continents for more than twenty years now. I have had the most incredible experiences and have met such wonderful people along the way. People that have touched my soul, my heart and will forever be part of my story. I just wish I could have started sooner to share it all with you and with my family.

My family is a big part of this journey. My immediate one, my husband who encouraged me to start and has been a great support all along and my daughter who I hope will also get to know her mother even better when the time comes to discover my blog.

Then there is the other family, the blood one. The one I grew up with and love dearly. They have always been there for me as much as our lives allow it. And they inspire me too, in so many ways! They have also been important characters in my most personal posts.

But I cannot forget my friends, the real ones that have stuck with me for better or for worse. They also read, comment and support me in ways that always touch me deeply.

I believe geography plays a big part in it as well. My country Portugal, also contributed a lot to the person I am today. This Portuguese spirit of adventure and discovery transmitted by our ancestors still lives in us today. Thanks to that spirit, we are great travelers who adapt very well to other cultures and are always open to new experiences. I’m very proud of my heritage.

I’m also very proud of what I accomplished with my blog so far. I have come a long way and feel my writing has improved as well as my photography. When I express myself, it is very important for me to always be honest, speak from the heart and have lots of fun while doing it. You have to love it otherwise it is not worth it.

All I can wish for is that you will keep following me on this journey and if I manage to touch or inspire you with my words and photographs, I’m happy!

Soon I will be moving again and as usual I’m nervous but excited. I wonder how the Caspian sea will inspire me … 🙂

Happy anniversary to me and to Travellingspice, more traveling and spices are certainly on the horizon!

Welcome! Through my photography and my travels, you will discover the people I have encountered and the places that will stay with me forever. In this crazy new reality we seem to be living, it is even more important to be grateful for all the people who have crossed our path and touched us in same way. As for all the old and new stones, they can live in our imaginary for now, waiting, when the time is right again ...
